The challenge
A company, dedicated to the production and exploration of oil and gas, wants to achieve a better management of its data as some data-related problems have arisen:
- Difficulty in comparing and contrasting production information from various periods: It becomes practically impossible to easily compare and contrast different data sets and see how they evolve over time due to the lack of orderly data.
- Difficulty understanding and analyzing their data: Wasted time and effort trying to understand and analyze data without the necessary visualizations.
- Lack of ability to predict and plan for the future: The impossibility of seeing trends and patterns in the data to try to predict future behavior and plan accordingly, despite having information about the production and the control tasks carried out.
- Loss of opportunities for improvement and optimization: By not having an adequate visualization of its data, the company considers that opportunities for improvement and optimization that could have a positive impact on the company are being overlooked. Above all, by not being able to correctly evaluate the information related to the losses from the production analysis (causes, deviations, among others).
- Difficulty communicating results and trends to other team members or clients.

What Tekne did
Objectives
This company wanted to achieve a better management of its data and for this it aspired to:
- Optimize the search and access to information from their databases.
- Have their data in an orderly and efficient way to be able to establish priorities, draw conclusions, detect patterns, predict future behavior and make decisions based on it.
Proposed Solution
- We worked in tandem with the company on carrying out business and technical evaluations with the aim of identifying the best solution for their data visualization problems.
- After our initial meetings, we agreed to develop a series of Dashboards with indicators and visualizations chosen and specified by the company in order to obtain a global vision of its production and control activities. This contributed to the understanding and analysis of its data, to its possibility of seeing trends and patterns to make future predictions and also to the decision-making process.
- We still continue collaborating with the company, promoting good practices in data management, as well as facilitating the rapid implementation of technological tools for data management.
